The European Standardization System (ESS) plays a crucial role in creating and reinforcing the European single market. The ESS is unique worldwide because, once published, it becomes the national standard in all 34 European countries. This system enables the free circulation of services and products and facilitates cross-border trade within Europe and the rest of the world. European standards are developed by one of three European standardization organizations:

  • the European Committee for Standardization (CEN),
  • the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), and
  • the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

On 15 June 2023, from 10:00-11:30 CEST, a training session will be organized as part of the HSbooster.eu project for researchers participating in EU-funded R&I projects. This training session aims to explain the basics of the ESS and bring the work of ESOs closer to researchers. It is also open to anyone interested in learning the basics of standardization. Here you can find the training materials for ESS.
