EuroCC's national competence center in Sweden (ENCCS) will hold an online workshop on Practical Machine Learning from 16 to 18 September 2025. This three-and-a-half-day virtual event aims to provide a thorough overview of the core principles and hands-on elements of ML.

The workshop will begin with the fundamentals of ML, covering basic concepts, ML types, and key applications. It will then shift to practical techniques for data preprocessing, model selection, training, evaluation, and assessment. Participants will examine both supervised tasks (classification and regression) and unsupervised tasks (clustering and dimensionality reduction) using various ML algorithms such as k-nearest neighbors (KNN), linear and logistic regressions, decision trees, random forests, support vector machines (SVM), naive Bayes, k-means, and neural networks.

Participants will build a strong foundation in machine learning through a mix of theory and practical exercises with Python and popular libraries to create and deploy basic ML models. They will then apply their ML knowledge to a capstone project, developing a full ML pipeline to address a real-world problem.
