The national competence center for HPC in the Czech, will be hosting an online workshop on 5 and 6 September 2023. The workshop will cover basic quantum computing algorithms and their implementation using Cirq.

On the first day of the course, Jiří Tomčala, a researcher at IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, will teach the basics of quantum computing. This includes an explanation of quantum entanglement and its applications, such as quantum teleportation. He will also discuss the principle of quantum superposition and demonstrate how it can be used in practical situations, using examples like Bernstein-Vazirani and Simon's algorithms. The second day will cover Grover's algorithm and then move on to the quantum Fourier transform, exploring practical applications like quantum phase estimation and Shor's algorithm.

Upon completion of this course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of various topics: the reason why quantum computers can solve complex problems in less time, the difference between natural quantum parallelism and parallel programming on HPC, and the principles of quantum teleportation. Additionally, the hands-on part of the course will allow participants to program and execute a basic quantum circuit in the Cirq environment.
